The Manufacturing Workshop Manager role demands a professional and driven person possessing excellent technical, management, organisation and commercial skills.  This is a broad role including the planning and management of the company’s in-house manufacturing facility to ensure the efficient and timely manufacture of components.  As a core member of the company’s production team, it is critical that the Manufacturing Workshop Manager takes a proactive approach to ensuring that shipment dates are met.  The role includes responsibility for production planning, quality control and daily management of machinists

.  The following highlights key aspects of the role: -

 

General responsibilities

 

·         To review machine shop capacity with the Operations Manager in respect of staff absences, planned overtime and sub-contract options on a weekly basis.

·         To produce works orders from MRP and schedule according to due dates as set at weekly meetings.

·         To ensure that work scheduling is processed and maintained to ensure on time delivery with respect to customer due dates.

·         Hold weekly production meetings with shop floor staff to discuss workload, priority setting, and technical issues. 

·         Produce and suggest improvement ideas on KPI’s relating to productivity, error rates, on time works order completion.

·         To manage the tooling, consumables, raw material and production overtime budgets.  Any non-budgeted items to have business case presented for review by the Operations Manager.

·         Day to day management of the machine shop staff including maintenance of agreed work scheduling, holiday requests, overtime levels work practices and general discipline. 

·         To ensure the current stringent levels of manufacturing quality are maintained.

·         Ensure that actual production times are recorded and loaded into costing system.

·         To assist with implementation of Bar Code Scanning system for works order tracking.

·         Highlight Raw Material issues to Purchasing to ensure availability and prevent over-stocking.

 

Health and Safety responsibilities

·         Monitoring workshop practices to ensure a safe working environment and safe working procedures are both adopted and adhered to at all times.

·         To ensure the staff are trained to meet the requirements of their appointments.

·         Ensuring hygienic practices for staff used facilities.

·         Scheduling machine maintenance procedures.

 

You may be required to carry out other reasonable duties within your capabilities as required and instructed, should the needs of the business require it.

The role will involve preparing and cutting meat from carcasses.

The successful candidate will be working in a small cutting room preparing cuts for various local clients.

You should have experience of working in a similar environment.

Hours of Work:
Permanent Night Shift 10.00pm - 6.00am
